How to read a rubber track size
Rubber track sizes are written as three numbers — for example 320 x 86 x 49. Here’s what each one means:
- Width (mm) — the overall width of the track across the ground, e.g. 320mm.
- Pitch (mm) — the distance between the centre of one drive lug and the next, e.g. 86mm.
- Links — the number of drive links (lugs) around the full loop of the track, e.g. 49.
You’ll usually find the size stamped on the inside face of your existing track. If it’s worn off, give us the machine make and model and we’ll cross-reference it.
How to measure your rubber tracks
If you can’t read the stamped size, measure the three values directly:
- Width — measure straight across the flat ground-contact face of the track in millimetres.
- Pitch — measure from the centre of one drive lug to the centre of the next.
- Links — count every drive lug all the way around the inside of the track.
Get those three and you have everything needed to order the correct replacement set.
Tread patterns explained
- C-lug / block tread — the all-rounder. Good grip on hard ground and tarmac, low vibration, comfortable ride. The default choice for most operators.
- Multi-bar tread — aggressive bars for wet, soft and muddy ground. Maximum traction where a C-lug would slip.
- Zig-zag / staggered block — a balance between grip and surface protection, common on landscaping and turf work.
OEM vs aftermarket rubber tracks
OEM tracks carry a machine-brand badge and a dealer markup to match. A quality aftermarket track is built to the same dimensional spec, from the same reinforced rubber with continuous steel cords and forged steel links — it bolts straight on and wears the same. The difference is the price, not the fitment. That’s the whole point of RivalParts: OEM-spec parts without the OEM tax.
How long do rubber tracks last?
A well-maintained set of mini excavator rubber tracks typically lasts 1,200–2,000 operating hours. Lifespan depends on ground conditions, track tension and operator habits — running over kerbs, sharp turns on abrasive surfaces and incorrect tension all shorten it. Keep tension correct and avoid spinning on concrete and you’ll get the most out of a set.
Signs your tracks need replacing
- Worn or rounded-off drive lugs (the track slips or “ratchets” on the sprocket)
- Tread bars worn flat — traction gone
- Cracking, chunking or exposed steel cords
- Cuts to the carcass or a track that’s stretched and won’t hold tension
If you’re seeing any of these, it’s time. Running tracks to destruction risks damaging your sprockets and rollers too — a far bigger bill.

Frequently asked questions
What size rubber tracks do I need?
Your track size is written as width x pitch x links (e.g. 320 x 86 x 49). It’s usually stamped on the inside of your current track, or we can match it from your machine make and model.
Are aftermarket rubber tracks as good as OEM?
A quality aftermarket track is built to the same dimensional spec and the same steel-corded reinforced rubber construction as OEM, so it fits and wears the same — for a lot less money.
How long do mini excavator rubber tracks last?
Typically 1,200–2,000 operating hours with correct tension and sensible operation. Ground conditions and operator habits are the biggest factors.
Can you supply tracks for any make and model?
Yes — we cover all common makes including Kubota, Bobcat, Takeuchi, JCB, CAT, Hitachi, Yanmar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hyundai, Case and more. If it runs on rubber tracks, we can match it.
