Undercarriage Parts for Excavators & Track Loaders

The short version: the undercarriage is the most expensive system on a tracked machine to keep running — by most estimates it accounts for around half of a machine’s lifetime maintenance spend. Buying the right aftermarket rollers, sprockets, idlers and adjusters at the correct spec, instead of paying OEM list, is where serious money is saved. RivalParts is built for operators and dealers who know exactly what they need — and for those who need help working it out.

The undercarriage, part by part

Pick the component you need. Each page covers what it does, the symptoms that mean it’s worn out, and how to identify the right part for your make, model and serial.

  • Bottom (track) rollers — carry the machine’s weight along the track. → see the page
  • Top (carrier) rollers — support the track on the return run. → see the page
  • Drive sprockets — turn engine power into track movement. → see the page
  • Front idlers — guide and tension the front of the track. → see the page
  • Track adjusters & recoil springs — hold correct track tension and absorb shock. → see the page
  • Rubber tracks — the wear part you replace most often. → see all rubber tracks
  • Track chains, shoes & steel tracks (coming soon)
  • Rubber pads (coming soon)

Why the undercarriage costs what it does

Rollers, idlers and sprockets all wear together against the track. Run a worn sprocket against a new track and you’ll chew the new track early; run loose tension and you accelerate wear on everything. Replacing wear items as a matched set, at the right time, is cheaper over a machine’s life than chasing failures one at a time. That’s the trade logic RivalParts is built around.

How to spec undercarriage parts

  1. Identify the machine exactly — make, model AND serial number. Undercarriage parts change between generations of the same model far more often than people expect.
  2. Check what’s actually worn — rollers/idlers: look for oil weeping (seal failure), flat spots, side-play or wobble. Sprockets: hooked or pointed teeth. Adjusters: track that won’t hold tension or a leaking grease cylinder.
  3. Match the wear set — if the sprocket is hooked, plan to replace the track with it. If one roller’s seal has gone, check the rest of the set.
  4. Tell us the machine and we’ll confirm the parts — that’s the service.

Order with confidence

Quality aftermarket undercarriage carries a 12–24 month supplier warranty as the category norm, and that’s what RivalParts holds to. No OEM markup, trade-grade parts, and a real person who knows the kit.

FAQs

What parts make up an excavator undercarriage?

The undercarriage is made up of bottom (track) rollers, top (carrier) rollers, drive sprockets, front idlers, track adjusters with recoil springs, the track itself (rubber or steel chain and shoes), and on rubber-track machines the track tread. These components wear together and are usually serviced as a set.

Why is the undercarriage so expensive to maintain?

Undercarriage is widely estimated to account for around half of a tracked machine’s lifetime maintenance cost because every component wears against the track under heavy load. Buying correctly specced aftermarket parts instead of OEM, and replacing wear items as a matched set, controls that cost.

How do I identify the right undercarriage parts for my machine?

Identify by make, model and serial number. Undercarriage parts often change between generations of the same model, so the serial number is essential. Provide it and RivalParts will confirm the correct rollers, sprockets, idlers or adjusters.
